Port Moody and East Vancouver-based visual artist and storyteller Tatjana Mirkov-Popovicki draws on disparate narratives from her homelands of Serbia and Canada. Her artwork, consisting of paintings, drawings, fiber art, and serigraphy, is informed by ethnographic histories, Balkan folklore, and empathetic observation.
Mirkov-Popovicki has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions in BC, including Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Vancouver; Art Gallery at Evergreen, Coquitlam; Ferry Building Gallery, West Vancouver; Michael Wright Art Gallery, Port Coquitlam; North Van Arts Art Rental Program; West Vancouver Community Arts Council; Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre; PoMoArts, Port Moody; and Gibsons Public Art Gallery. Tatjana is a 2025 MFA candidate at Emily Carr University of Art + Design.
Tatjana acknowledges that she lives and works on the stolen land of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), qʼʷa:n̓ ƛʼən̓ (Kwantlen), qiqéyt (Qayqayt) and Stó:lō Peoples. She is grateful to reside in this territory.
